Contempt notice against Imran Khan disposed


ISLAMABAD:  The Supereme Court of Pakistan has disposed the contempt of court notice against PTI Chief Imran Khan.
The Supreme Court resumed hearing the contempt of Court notice case against Khan for having used the Urdu word for 'shameful' when refering to the Court.
Imran Khan later clarified that his comments were not aimed at the superior judiciary and were infact for the district returning officeres..


PM Nawaz Sharif orders probe into Islamabad standoff


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordred an inquiry into an impasse caused by a gunman at the Jinnah Avenue of the federal capital, sources said Friday..
The sources said that the prime minister ordered the interior secretary to submit a report, which must answer as to who was responsible to cause delay in initiating action to end the drama at the heart of the capital and as to why police allowed an individual to over come the situation, a reference to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Zamurud Khan.

The prime minister also sought answers that as to how an armed man entered the area and why the law enforcers failed to stop his entry and which authority was responsible to respond to the situation.


Rain-flood hit parts of Karachi giving devastated look, as water recedes

KARACHI: Most of the parts of the city, which were severly hit by the rains and floodwater, fast getting back to normalcy, as water receded after leaving scars of devastations in the defected areas.

Following saturday's torrential rains, accumulated rainwater overflowing the roads and streets has entered into the houses located in Saadi Town, Amroha society, Safoora Goth and adjoining areas of the city, which by now have receded or taken out, while the Pak Army and other rescue teams in few areas still busy in draining out the rainwater. 


14th elected National Assembly's inagural session today


ISALAMABAD: The newly elected lagislators will take oath today(Saturday, June1,2013) as the 14th National Assembly meets for the first time marking the begining of new parilamentary year.
In a unique turn of events in the history of the country a smooth transition of power has taken place for the first time by a civilion government.
The 13th National Assembly (2008-2013) had completed its five years term that too for the first time in the democratic history of Pakistan.
The outgoing Speaker, Dr Fehmida Mirza, will administer the oath to the MNA-elect.
President of PML-N Mian Nawaz Sharif, who is setting set foot in the National Assembly after 14 years, will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Wedesday(5 June, 2013).


Supreme Court declares appointment of NAB Chairman illeglal.


ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan of Tuesday declared the appointment of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Fasih Bukhari illegal. The apex court has directed the fedral government to appoint a new Chairman.

A five member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Tasudduq Hussain Jilani heard the constitutional petition filed by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan challenging the appointment of Bukhari as NAB Chairman. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in his petition stated that he as the opposition leader was not consulted during the appointment process.


16 children, teacher die in Gujrat school bus fire..

Seven other children were injured badly
in the blaze which destroyed the vehicle.
The van was carrying 24 children to a private school in Gujrat, about 112 kilometres (70 miles) north of the eastern city on Lahore, when it caught fire, DPO Dar Ali Khattak told.
The fire erupted in the vehicle when the children were only a few kilometres from their school, he said.
The blaze was apparently caused by a spark when the driver of the dual-fuel van switched from gas to petrol, he said, adding that the fuel gas cylinder was intact.
The children were aged between five and 15 years old, he said, adding that a female teacher also died.
DPO Dar Ali Khatak told that investigation has started and all the concerned parties including vehicle fitness officials will be investigated soon.
Another police official said the driver fled after the fire.
Five of the injured children were in serious condition, hospital officials said.

According to PIA sources the suspects had allegedly threatened to bomb the plane with explosives. A panicked stewardess alarmed the pilot, Captain Nadeem Sufi, who sent a stress signal to London control tower triggering the security alert, which led to the force-landing of the plane.
There were 297 passengers and 11 crew members were on the plane.
